- July 11, 2015
8:15 am - 5:00 pm
The USA JR Olympic Windsurfing Festival is part of a national tour of sailing events to promote Sailing and Windsurfing as Olympic Sports. Calema’s event, now in it’s 16th year, allows children (ages 8-17) to get a “taste” of windsurfing through our FREE learn to windsurf mini-clinic – taught on Saturday morning. Pre-registration is required as there is limited space available.
For those children that are already windsurfing – even if they just started in our SUMMER CAMPS this summer – we have racing fleets where the children compete for Gold, Silver and Bronze medals. Racers are divided into age and skill groups (Morning camp – novice) (Afternoon campers – intermediate) (Junior Team – advanced) so even a child with only one week of camp can come and participate! Racers will receive LUNCH and use of Calema’s windsurfing equipment for racing. There is a $25 fee for competitors.
On shore – we also offer a FREE Build a Mini Boat event – where children of all ages can build a miniature sailboat and race it down a special course propelled only by the wind.
It is a great day for the whole family to come out and enjoy the beautiful weather, bring a picnic, splash around and get wet and watch the colorful sails as they “Go for the Gold”.
