USA Junior Olympics 2005

The 7th annual USA Junior Olympics . Threatening weather turned to sunny skies as the day started with 45 kids in the free learn to windsurf session. All were sailing in 90 minutes. Thanks so much to all the volunteers who donated their time and to the Stankie clan for loaning us their boat. Mucho thanks to the Ojedas who as usual work hard behind the scenes. We had great races with the Novice fleet, kids who just took this year's camps and competed for the first time -- Great racing action - close to shore! The more advanced juniors raced a larger course further offshore & attracted competitors from around the state. The Build a Boat once again proved successful with kids of all ages creating many innovative craft. Many thanks to Travis Hardware in Cocoa who donated the (expensive)canals. Also many thanks to the parents who brought their kids for a day of fun and learning. br />The USA Junior Olympics is part of a National Tour and is sponsored by West Marine, Gill, and US Sailing.

Kids Camps

We have been teaching kids since 1984, long before it became "fashionable" and long, long before any equipment suitable for kids was developed. Tinho Dornellas pioneered most of today's kids equipment from the very successful gaastra freetime, to school specific booms and masts, and the best seller AHD Zen.

EF International Group windsurfing day July 15

July 15, 2005 - a group of 29 students from Spain, Russia, Germany, France and Italy were introduced to windsurfing and kayaking. They are part of a larger group staying in the Space Coast area strengthening their English skills and learning a bit about our American way of life. A perfect day with beautiful East breezes. Even with Tinho and Phillipe's (our instructors) knowing 4 languages, it was a challenge to teach the various skills -- "body language" definatly played a larger part than the spoken word but were sailing after the 3hr. lesson.
