Adjustable Mast Top Strap

Image 11 : On small sails, there is an adjustable top designed to fit slightly taller masts. Ideally you would want to have the mast tip flush with the top of the sail.

Image 12 : In some sizes the ideal mast length will be slightly longer than the luff. In this case you will use the mast top adjustment strap. Included in these sails is a strap chafe protector that you must thread through the adjustment strap prior to rigging.

Image 13, 14 : Only use the chafe protector when you need to use the top adjustment strap.
Suppose you were to have a sail that required a 430 mast. If the luff lenght were to be 420, you would set the base at 0 cm of extension, and adjust the top so you would have 10cm of distance between the sail and the top of the mast.
