In the larger sails it is recommended you use an adjustable outhaul system as it greatly improves the sails wind range. The ability to adjust the power while on the water, simply means less time on shore and more time enjoying your windsurfing!
Even wave sailors are starting to use adjustable outhauls.
There are several types of outhaul threading patterns that you may wish to use.

In the first two cases, after threading the line and cleating it, hitch it to the boom. Never hitch the line around the outhaul line itself. In an emergency that would require quick disassembly of the rig, a wet line tied around itself is very difficult to untie. |
