Image 23, 24 : Outhaul the sail. For best results use an adjustable outhaul system. It will give you the most range of wind conditions for a single sail. The adjustable system includes a cleat and pulley system on each side of the boom, and a sail pulley in the clew. It allows the sailor to adjust the outhaul tension while underway. Pull to within 2 cm of the rear end and fine tune for the conditions.

Above image : If this is the first time you rig your new sail, you must tension the battens so as to remove the wrinkles. Look at the batten pocket and you will see wrinkles radiating perpendicular to the batten pockets.
Image 25 : Tension the battens until those wrinkles disappear.

Image 28 : After the sail is rigged, connect the rig to the board, looping the tack strap around the top of the mast foot. You dont need to tension this strap; it simply holds this area in line with the rest of the foot.

Image 29 : Gaastra recommends you protect your sail from the suns exposure. A rig bag is a light and easy way of getting extra seasons out of your sail. A tarp is also an inexpensive and effective way of protecting your rig.
Note: After you use your new sail for the first time, you will need to re-tension the battens again, as the sail stretches and settles to its desired shape.
